CME exchange News - CME Group is expanding its cryptocurrency derivatives offerings with options contracts for Solana (SOL) and XRP futures, scheduled for launch on October 13, 2025, pending regulatory approval. The initiative targets institutional investors and active traders, providing enhanced risk management tools and flexibility through both standard and micro-sized contracts. Giovanni Vicioso, CME's Global Head of Cryptocurrency Products, emphasized that this move responds to the surging liquidity in SOL and XRP futures. Solana futures have traded 540,000 contracts worth $22.3 billion since March, while XRP futures reached 370,000 contracts totaling $16.2 billion since May. These new products will join ETH options in CME's $30 billion crypto derivatives ecosystem, where SOL and XRP futures recently surpassed $1 billion in open interest each.
